The Boat

Fish Tickler III is the world’s first Rodman 1250 Hard Top, produced for both leisure and commercial use and has been supplied by RBS Marine .

The idea was born when Rodman’s commercial division adapted the original flybridge model to a Hard Top for the South African Government to use as deep sea rescue boats. Now, Fish Tickler III is sure to impress those wanting a strong all-round sea boat that can also venture into inland waterways. The boat also benefits from recent improvements made to the interior design of the 1250 series, including a larger forward berth and revised saloon layout. Powered by twin Volvo Penta IPS500’s like her flybridge counterparts, Fish Tickler III will exhibit effortless manoeuvrability, an economic range and great sea keeping.

The IPS system is quiet and exhaust free.  Linked with the 1250 Rodman design, this makes a perfect platform for offshore fishing trips, providing comfort and style not found on normal charter vessels. The 1250 hull is proven in the roughest of conditions, allowing fast and efficient access to deep water fishing grounds. She has a cruising speed of 28 knots in most weather with a top speed of 35 knots plus.  Fish Tickler III is fitted with Volvo QL automatic trim tabs system which makes cruising comfortable for passengers, which is not normally the case on vessels with this turn of speed.

Her deep walk around design enables 360̊ access to play a fish all the way around the boat, and large cockpit ensures plenty of space to land your catch. The boat is fitted with all the safety features required by the MCA’s code of practice to operate 60 miles from any port. This includes a life-raft for 12, lifejackets, flares, fire extinguishers, McMurdo Smartfind plus G5 EPIRB and hand held radio .

In addition, Fish Tickler III has one the most up-to-date Garmin 7000 range of navigation systems found in a vessel of this size.  This includes a Garmin 18 inch touch screen chart plotter and a separate 18 inch touch screen radar with an AIS 600 system overlaid on this equipment, a 12 inch colour touch screen fish finder/sonar, a Garmin 200i DSC VHF and an Echomax dual band active radar reflector.  The boat has a Garmin auto pilot system which is linked to the chart plotter to make easy navigation/wreck finding. The radar also is linked into an automatic weather information system.
